Founded in 1926 by Joseph P. Rainey, the company has remained committed to quality work and customer service for the past 80 years.
J. P. Rainey & Company, Inc. was a charter member of the National Electrical Contractor’s Association’s Penn Del Jersey chapter in 1929, and has been signatory to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker’s Local Union #98 since our inception.
Thomas G. Moore, Sr. purchased the company from Joe Rainey in 1965 after a long tenure as foreman and superintendent. Under Tom Sr.’s direction the company developed a specialty in the healthcare market forming long term relationships with clients and engineers. Many of these relationships still exist today.
Thomas G. Moore, Jr., the present owner and president, started with J. P. Rainey Co. in 1978 as an apprentice electrician. After completing his apprenticeship and serving as a journeyman electrician Tom Jr. went inside the office and assisted his father in all aspects of the business. After Tom Sr.’s death in 1996 Tom Jr. took over at the helm of J. P. Rainey Co. Under his leadership we have continued to grow maintaining the same high standards and client relationships of the past as well as forging new relationships with additional clients, general contractors, and construction managers. Our volume has more then tripled since Tom Jr. took over and our reputation as one of the most experienced and highly qualified electrical contractors in the Philadelphia area has never been stronger.
